Victoria, Australia – A VICTORIAN woman is being investigated after she offered her two young children for sale to the highest bidder on eBay.
This interesting example of an Australian mother wrote a “lengthy sales pitch” that included photographs of her son and daughter, both under the age of 10. But that is not the most alarming part of the story. What is even more disturbing was the amount of genuine bidders who placed bids on this sickening auction.
The horrific internet page was brought to the attention of Detectives from the Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse unit by a disgusted member of the public. The detectives immediately contacted Ebay, who took the page down within 2 hours.
Victoria Police have decided not to press charges against the mother, who claims the act was just a joke. She now knows this was no laughing matter because she faces losing her children permanently. The case has been referred to the Department of Human Services, which is still investigating the family.
According to a spokesman,it was possible the children could be taken from their mother:
“If there is a serious threat to the children’s wellbeing and the situation is so bad that the only safe option is for them to be taken from home, then that is definitely a possibility.”
